Lufthansa FlyingLab me Convention – exclusive pre-event on the world's highest conference stage

On 13 September 2017, selected speakers from me Convention on their way from San Francisco to Frankfurt will give presentations in the Lufthansa FlyingLab on board flight LH 455LH 445. This will herald the start of this convention about the future at an altitude of over 10,000 metres, both for our passengers and delegates of me Convention already in California. High above the clouds you will be able to learn what our future might look like. Six top class speakers on board the Airbus A380 will give fascinating insights into the main topics of me Convention: new creation, new leadership, new realities, new urbanism and new velocity.

The FlyingLab will launch with a gate event at San Francisco Airport. As well as listening to short speeches, here you can start to get to know your fellow passengers and me Convention delegates. Over the Atlantic you will then experience a unique pre-conference with experts whose presentations you will receive via WLAN on your own smartphone, tablet or laptop. The 'FlyingLab me Convention' is a collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and Lufthansa.

To be there all you need is a ticket for the LH 455LH 445 on 13 September 2017. There is no extra cost for taking part in the FlyingLab.

What is me Convention?

The first me Convention will take place in Frankfurt am Main from 15 to 17 September 2017. In cooperation with SXSW, Mercedes-Benz will bring together some of the world's leading thinkers from the creative, design and technology industries in Festhalle Frankfurt. There will be panel sessions, inspiring keynote speeches, workshops and art installations, leading an intensive dialogue about the future.

The festival character of me Convention will also become clear through the great programme of evening events to be held throughout Frankfurt's hip Bahnhofsviertel district. The partnership with the established conference and festival, South by Southwest (SXSW), is unique. Each spring the movers and shakers of the interactive, film and music industries come together for SXSW in the city of Austin, Texas. This March this year Daimler's CEO, Dr Dieter Zetsche, sat on various podiums at SXSW 2017 - which is where he also announced the premiere of me Convention in Frankfurt. With me Convention, SXSW together with Mercedes-Benz have developed a completely new and unique format.

The Pins Collective

The Pins Collective - The Digital Pin
Remember pins on the jeans jacket in the 80ies? The Pin One is the digital revival of the wearable art form. You can choose any picture, text or animation (GIFs) in the Pin smartphone app. Via a Bluetooth connection the artworks are transmitted onto the Pin. Switching between different artworks requires only a few swipes. Pin ONE was born 2014 in Stockholm out of an idea of bringing online creative work into the physical space and the ability to wear it as a part of one's daily outfit. The first version was funded via Kickstarter. On the Lufthansa FlyingLab me Convention all speakers and team members will wear Pins.

Sleep Shepherd Blue

Sleep better with the Sleep Sheperd Blue
The Sleep Shepherd Blue is a comfortable, adjustable headband containing speakers and EEG sensors. The wearable optimizes your sleep patterns with a biofeedback system using binaural beats and EEG measurements. When you first go to bed, your brain rate is ~50 Hz. In order to fall asleep, your brain rate needs to drop to ~10 Hz. Simply put, the Sleep Shepherd utilizes EEG sleep monitoring and specialized binaural beats to slow your brain rate from an awake state to a sleeping state. The binaural beats are two tones, played into each ear. Each tone is set to a very precise, but different, frequency. When these tones cross in your brain, your brain deciphers the different and adapts to them. This allows you to intentionally lower your brain rate. The Sleep Shepherd Blue gives you a deeper and more relaxing sleep. Try it out yourself on flight LH 455.

What is a Lufthansa FlyingLab?

The FlyingLab is Lufthansa's open innovation platform. Together with guests and partners, the airline is making the influence of digitalisation on all walks of life visible and tangible. The respective topics come from the categories of technology, zeitgeist and sustainability. FlyingLabs take place on board scheduled flights in particular, as well as in airport lounges, at conventions and at trade fairs.

FlyingLabs above the clouds consist of two parts: live presentations and product tests. Selected experts give exclusive insights into their subjects. At the same time, participants use the time on board to try out innovative wearables. Each FlyingLab is matched thematically to the flight destination or to an event at the destination. People travelling to the same destination often share similar interests. In a FlyingLab you can expand your network.
