New Heights with Innovation – Exclusive Lufthansa FlyingLab pre-event to the SAPPHIRE NOW

The SAP convention SAPPHIRE NOW + ASUG Annual Conference 2017 is the German software company’s largest conference and customer exhibition worldwide. From 16 to 18 May 2017, more than 20,000 customers, potential buyers, developers and users (America’s SAP Users’ Group, ASUG) will come together at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

With the motto "New Heights with Innovation," the Lufthansa FlyingLab, in cooperation with the SAP Innovation Center Network, will prepare passengers for the event with an exclusive on-board pre-event as they leave Frankfurt on 15 May 2017.

The programme on board flight LH 464

The unique FlyingLab SAP SAPPHIRE NOW pre-event starts with a gate event in Terminal 1 of Frankfurt airport. Among other things, passengers can enjoy a live airport showcase at the gate and virtually demonstrate their driving abilities during the SAP Hybris Smart Driving Showcase. The high point on board the Boeing 747-400 is an in-flight conference with six top-class speakers. All interested passengers can receive the live video stream and the presentation documents from their seats on their Wi-Fi enabled devices – smartphones, tablets or laptops.

During the presentation, questions on the talk can be put in writing from the comfort of their seats, so that a lively debate on the topics of artificial intelligence, the human experience, and the future of work can ensue at an altitude of 10,000 metres.

On the 10-hour flight from Frankfurt to Orlando, the passengers still have enough time to try out the Muse wearable in peace.

The partner company:

At the FlyingLab SAPPHIRE NOW, Lufthansa cooperates with SAP, which is the airline’s first collaboration with another company. Together with the SAP Innovation Center Network, Lufthansa Digital Innovations designs the programme for the in-flight conference and the gate event with different showcases.

The SAP Innovation Center Network, with Chief Innovation Officer Juergen Müller at the helm, is the innovative arm of the software company, and since 2011 has combined the creativity and agility of a start-up with the expertise of a global company.

For the FlyingLab, Lufthansa Digital Innovations has teamed up with the SAP Innovation Center Network to clarify how important it is for both companies to take new paths and find new business models. With innovative presentations and exciting showcases, the employees, customers and business partners on the flight will be offered an exclusive event en route to the most important SAP convention of the year, to inspire them and make them thirsty for more.

Muse Headband
Muse Logo

Muse is a brain sensing headband that makes meditation easier. Meditation has been proven to reduce stress and increase focus, but it can be hard to know if you’re doing it right. Muse provides you with real-time audio feedback on what’s happening in your brain when you meditate, letting you know when your mind wanders and teaching you to regain focus. Think of Muse as your personal guide to meditation as you journey toward a calmer and more present self.

What is a FlyingLab?

The FlyingLab is Lufthansa’s open innovation platform. Together with guests and partners, the airline is making the digitalisation’s impact on all walks of life visible and tangible. The respective topics come from the Technology, Health, Zeitgeist and Sustainability sectors. FlyingLabs take place on the ground in the lounges, at conventions and trade fairs, as well as on board scheduled flights. FlyingLabs in aircraft comprise two parts: Live presentations and product tests. Each FlyingLab topic is matched to the flight destination or an event at the destination. To date there have been FlyingLabs on virtual reality topics, sleep, fashion as well as on the digital conference SXSW.
